This week, I had the pleasure of assisting a lovely couple who were having a cake emergency. I was initially recommended to them by a fellow cakey person on Twitter, for which I am very grateful. The couple had ordered a lovely cake and some cookies for their son’s christening from a well-known retailer but less than a week before the event, had been told that the order wasn’t possible. Not so much knowingly undersold as completely sold down the river. I am usually a huge fan of this particular company and so I was doubly disappointed on their behalf. However, this all meant that I got to create a really cute cake for their event, which I hope they were even more pleased with.
So, I am proud to introduce this guy, Little Ted, the star of the main cake. Here, you can see him freshly made and waiting to be placed in position.
Here are a dozen cupcakes, all boxed up and ready to go. The cupcake and main cake colours and designs all tied in together to create a lovely display.
And here it is, the finished display at the venue, which was a beautiful boutique hotel in Didsbury. The main cake was made of chocolate sponge with chocolate buttercream and the cupcakes were chocolate sponge with vanilla buttercream, coloured a pale powder blue to tie in with the theme.
Just in case you fancied a cheeky little close up… 🙂
