I am so excited about sharing this wedding with you! Leanne and Stephen are one of the nicest couples I have ever had the pleasure of working with. They have great taste (as you will see from their wedding photos, there isn’t a choice they’ve made that I don’t love), knew exactly what they wanted and at the same time, were happy for me to add my own little stamp on elements. But no cake pops. That was something that Steve was very vocal about 😉 I don’t know why, I think they are cute, but a rule is a rule. It was probably for the best that when we met for the design consultation, we had a limit on time as they had a christening to attend. Otherwise, I could have chatted to them all day!
Leanne and Stephen had their wedding reception at the amazing West Tower near Preston. I was in absolute awe as I pulled up ready to set the dessert table up and the more I saw, the better it got! The venue had laid out these beautiful ivory ruffled coverings on all of the functional tables, which created the most stunning effect in the white room with huge windows and so much sunlight pouring in.
Jenny and Keith McAvoy from McAvoy Photography have been so kind as to share their images with me. These guys are also awesome and I have had the pleasure of working with them several times now. I love their style and their way of working, and they are such lovely people! They took so many beautiful photos, it’s hard to choose a few favourites to share with you, but here are some key detail shots to help you get into the mood of Leanne and Steve’s style for the grand finale…the dessert table!
I absolutely love Leanne’s dress. It is so simple and subtle yet has lots of elegant details. Stunning. I do believe that Leanne’s absolute pride and joy on the day were these though:
I am so jealous, there are no words. Just look at them!!
I just love this sign for so many reasons:
And the guestbook is so simple and pretty with subtle texture and a single butterfly embellishment:
So here it is, my own contribution to the wedding celebrations, the aubergine orchid dessert table! Highlights include champage and strawberries cupcakes, chocolate brownies, mini traditional fruit cakes and cookies and coconut macaroons drizzled in white chocolate.
The wedding cake centrepiece was three tiers of vanilla sponge, covered with buttercream rose swirls, which creates such a beautiful, flowing effect. I created a deep purple orchid corsage to tie in with Leanne’s bouquet and the rest of the wedding theme. I even added edible pollen, which I was particularly proud of.
Another one of my favourite images from the wedding is this one, which features the couple’s wedding rings on one of the little canape cupcakes.
The final photo is one that made me well up when I first saw it, not because my precious cake is being sliced into, but because they just look so genuinely happy! I love creating cakes, designing and making them makes me very happy, but it is moments like this, when people get to enjoy my work on such an important day, that makes it all very much worthwhile.
I also couldn’t finish this post without including the email that I received when the couple returned from honeymoon. If the cake cutting photo didn’t make me cry properly, this certainly did. Some people are just too nice and generous for words!
Amazing! Huge congratulations to Leanne and Stephen, I hope you had an amazing day and all my very best wishes for an incredibly happy life together. Also, thank you so much to McAvoy Photography for sharing your stunning images.
Until next time,
