new year’s resolutions

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had an amazing time welcoming in the new year, and that heads weren’t too sore in the morning 😉 My NYE was spent at a great house party with friends. There was punch, champagne, an incredibly potent chocolate liqueur and paper lanterns that floated off into the night sky. This was one of my highlights actually, so much fun and so pretty! Suffice to say, the first day of the new year was spent doing a whole lot of not very much. I did get bitten by the budgie though (in a completely unprovoked attack) so we are currently not friends. He definitely needs to buck his ideas up for 2012…

In all honesty, I can’t quite believe that 2011 is actually over! It’s been one heck of an exciting ride for Cakes by Beth. In January 2011, I launched the wedding cake side of the business, with my first collection of wedding cake designs unveiled in March. I was both nervous and excited about it all. I loved my designs and thought they had something a bit different about them so hoped that a few couples searching for something a little different would choose me to create a cake for their wedding. However, the wedding cake market is highly competitive with some big names in Manchester alone so I knew it would be a long journey requiring a lot of patience. I was therefore absolutely astounded by the huge response I received and am so honoured to have been a part of so many lovely couples’ big days. I have met some amazing couples this year, some of whom are now married – congratulations to you all guys, it’s been a pleasure working with you and I hope I can be of cakey help again soon – and some I still have the exciting prospect of bringing their designs to life. I also have lots of consultations booked for 2012 so am really looking forward to meeting lots of lovely new couples and sharing in planning for their big day.

As 2012 is already set to be bigger than 2011 and the year has only just started, I have extra plans and some new year’s resolutions that will help me with my business, not only to maintain running it to the same high standard, but to grow it further and make this year even more exciting. I am also launching my 2012 Collection Look Book in a couple of weeks and my website will be even bigger and better with lots of new features. I really can’t wait to unveil it all!

I just wanted to say another huge thank you to everyone who has helped me in 2011 to take Cakes by Beth to where it is now. Love and best wishes to you all and here’s to another fantastic twelve months 🙂
